Stuvade makaroner

Stuvade makaroner, milk-stewed macaronies, is the Swedish equivalent to mac and cheese. Serve with fried falukorv!

  • 5 dl regular macaronies
  • 5-10 dl milk
  • Salt


  • In a wide pot (like traktörpanna) add about 4 dl water with a fair amount of salt, and bring to a boil.
  • Add the macaronies and boil for maybe a 30-60 seconds.
  • Add some of the milk (about 2-3 dl).
  • Continue boiling the macaronies, add milk as needed.
  • Done once the macaronies are done and the milk is fairly thick. About 20 mins.
